From Sea to Sea 4-15-05

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are filled with Your glory. Fill my heart and my thoughts with the glory of Your presence, I pray. ... Five hundred years before it happened, Zechariah prophesied of Your first coming: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter, Jerusalem! Lo, your King comes to you; triumphant and glorious is He, humble and riding on a donkey" (Zechariah 9.9). Yet you also opened his eyes to see Your second coming as well: "He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war-horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and He shall command peace to the nations; His dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth" (Zechariah 9.10). Teach us how to see at many levels -- how to see where we are and where we are going; how to see things as they are, but also how they will be. Though the battles rage now, there will come a day of peace. Though the victory is won through the cross of Christ, the victory is enforced as the nature of Christ is formed in our hearts. Victory begins in humility. Your dominion stretches from sea to sea as Your Word stretches from our head to our heart. Peace comes because the enemy is defeated day by day in our souls between the humility of Your first coming and the glory of Your second. As You open our eyes to see You then, and now, and as You are to come, let us also see who we are and who we will be in You. "Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken" (Isaiah 40.5). "When Christ Who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory" (Colossians 3.4). Lord let is be so today as it will be in that day to come. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
