"Better is open rebuke,
than hidden love" (Proverbs 27:5).
In healing prayer
ministry, I often hear the pain of a son who says, "I never heard my dad say he
loved me" and the pain of a mother who says, "My children never call any more
even to let me know they care." And so many times, I pray with those whose
marriages were once full of passion and life, only to have grown cold and stale
or broken apart.
Love is meant to be
expressed. Love is meant to be lived. We all need to hear it; and we all need to
say it. Love that's hidden - never acknowledged, never expressed - is hardly
love at all. If it is love, it's a very painful love that leaves very empty
hearts and very deep wounds.
Lord, release a heart
of courage in the earth today. Empower Your people with the courage to quit
hiding our love - love for You and love for one another. Let words be spoken;
let feelings be expressed; let love be known. Let the silence of hidden love be
broken and the power of revealed love be released. "For (You have) not given us
a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7,
NKJ). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
