"He called the twelve
and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over unclean
spirits.... So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast
out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them" (Mark
6:7-13).
All authority in heaven
and earth has been given to You (Matthew 28:18). And in the sovereignty of God
and the mystery of faith, You have also entrusted authority to us, even over
demons and disease. "The heavens are the Lord's heavens, but the earth He has
given to human beings" (Psalm 115:16).
Lord, let me know the
measure and the means of authority You've entrusted to me today. Lead me to use
it in Your power for Your purposes. Give me the right heart and right motives.
Give me the humility to know that any authority in me comes from You and also
the faith to believe You desire to express Your authority through me. "Like good
stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each
of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of
God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God
may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and
the power forever and ever" (1 Peter 4:10-11). In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
