Morning by Morning, August 17 - “Go Into All the World” with the Word and the Spirit
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta. And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold. But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand. So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, ‘No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.’ But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.
“In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary” (Acts 28:1-10 NKJV).
You’re a God who saves and heals and delivers. And You’re a God who sends out Your sons and daughters in the power of Your love and authority of Your name that hearts and minds and communities can be changed in encounters with the Living God.
Diseases and death must bow to Your name. False mindsets about false gods and their false powers must bow to Your name. And we are the ones with the honor and the responsibility to go in Your name and proclaim the power of Your name in a demonstration of Your love.
And of course, there will be battles and struggles along the way -- whether ship wrecks or serpent strikes, whether temptations to accept the praise and glory that belongs only to You or seeking the honor of men rather than seeking obedience to God. But despite the challenges of our commission, You still send us and command us to go in faith as Your faithful disciples:
“And (Jesus) said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover’” (Mark 16:15-18).
In the morning, You’re sending my wife Rocio and I to go into several communities in Mexico, in the power of Your love and authority of Your name. I’ll be preaching and she’ll be interpreting, and we both will be seeking to represent Your love and mercy and grace in the character and authority of Jesus. We seek Your protection and the anointing of Your power. And we especially thank You for those You’ve called to pray for us and provide for us “such things as (are) necessary” for this kind of ministry and life.
As we go, we trust by faith the authority of Your Word and the moving of Your Spirit for us and for all who “Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News” in Your name, as the Promise of Your Scripture proclaims:
“And they went out and proclaimed the Good News everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the Message by the signs that accompanied it” (Mark 16:20).
Confirm Your Message in us and through us, Lord. “To God be the glory forever and ever!” (Galatians 1:5 GNT) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
My friend, may you go everywhere the Lord sends you and join in prayer for those who go everywhere you're not able to, all in the love and character of Jesus, with the Word and the Spirit, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you!
