“New Wine” - September 26, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, September 26 – “New Wine”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek Your face and wait for Your leading--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...   “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins” (Mark 2:22).   In some ways, “new wine” speaks of Your Holy Spirit and “new wineskins” speaks of the human spirit of our hearts. We need a fresh filling, a fresh outpouring every day. We’re to “be filled with the Spirit” continually, without ceasing (Ephesians 5:18). Just like Your love that never ceases and never comes to an end:   “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,     His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;     great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).   So every morning, I open my spirit to You for a fresh filling and outpouring of Your Spirit. By Your grace, I make room in my heart that’s been renewed in You, that’s being renewed in You--morning by morning and then moment by moment throughout the moments of my day.   In Your mercy and love, my heart’s not hardened by the failures and regrets of the past or filled up with old offenses. No, I’m ready for the new wine of new life You’re pouring into my life for a new day in You. “The old has passed away, behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).   Make a new way in me. Fill me up with Your New Wine. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.... Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation” (Psalm 51:10-12).   By the New Wine of Your Spirit “the Love of God has been poured into (my) heart through the Holy Spirit who was (and who is) given to (me)” (Romans 5:5). Keep pouring Your New Wine into the new wineskin You’re forming in my heart today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
