Morning by Morning, September 7 - Discipleship Plan of Jesus for Fulfillment and Joy in Him Good morning, Lord Jesus. One with my Father, One with the Holy Spirit, be One within me, as I abide in You and You abide in me (John 15:4). ... As I listen, Your Words of long ago, Your Words of Spirit and Life, are sinking more deeply into my spirit and taking new life in me this morning. ... “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:1-12). In these 12 verses, full of Your Words of Spirit and Life, is a discipleship plan to fulfillment and joy in my spiritual journey with You: As intimate as a vine and a branch. As fruitful as intimate with You in Your abiding Presence. As flourishing as yielding to Your pruning. As clean and pure of heart as surrendered in heart to You and Your word. As fruitful as humbled to acknowledge there’s nothing lasting without You. As fulfilled as obedient to Your commandment to love. As joyful as receiving, believing, and embracing Your words and Your way of discipleship with You. By the power of Your grace at work within me, I embrace Your discipleship plan for my life this day and every day, that I may be fulfilled and full of joy in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
