Morning by Morning, September 15 - “Right with God” because God’s Spirit is Right Here Within Me Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and wait for the leading of Your Spirit. ... “But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11 NLT). I was different before You saved me. I was different before You cleansed me. And as I keep looking to You, keep calling on You, keep opening my heart and my life to You, You keep making me different, changing me and cleansing me, and making me holy and right with God (2 Corinthians 3:18). As King David said, You “create in me a clean heart, O God” and “renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10). As the Apostle Paul expressed this in terms of daily offering our lives to You as “a living and holy sacrifice”: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice--the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:1-2 NLT). So make me different today, O God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I want to be “right with God” in my heart and mind, in my words and actions, offering to You my body and life as a “living and holy sacrifice.” I believe that’s part of what You meant when You spoke to Your first disciples and continue to speak to every disciple who would rise and follow You each day in their hearts: “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world are yourself lost or destroyed? If anyone is ashamed of Me and My message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when He returns in His glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels” (Luke 9:23-26 NLT). I do want to be Your follower, Your disciple, a true son of God who’s unashamed of the Son of Man, the Son of God, who’s wholly surrendered my life to You so that You can fully live Your life in me. “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27) -- “right with God” because God’s Spirit is right here within me (Romans 8:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
