Morning by Morning, December 13 - The God with Power Over the Impossible Good morning, Lord Jesus. Steady my spirit, as I pursue Your Presence, here in these first moments of my morning. ... “Then Mary said to the angel, ‘How can this be, since I do not know a man?’ And the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible’” (Luke 1:34-37). You spoke life into the barren womb of Elizabeth. And You spoke life into the virgin womb of Mary. “For with (You) nothing will be impossible” (v. 37). Speak Your life into us today -- All that is barren. All this broken. All that is wounded or bound, held back or shut down. All that seems hopeless and destined to despair. All that needs revival and awakening, rejuvenation and hope. “For with (You) nothing will be impossible!” You are the God of the impossible! And from the very beginning of the story of Jesus, You declared and demonstrated Your power over the impossible. As You said long ago, You still declare today, You still demonstrate today, “With God all things are possible” and “All things are possible to him who believes” (Matthew 19:26; Mark 9:23). During this Christmas season, as all the world is hearing about Jesus, would You move in Your power over the impossible? Just as the miracles surrounding the birth of Jesus give us hope and stir up faith, may You awaken fresh faith and renewed hope for the impossible in our lives and our world in ways that lead all of us closer to You -- the God with power over the impossible. In Jesus’ name pray. Amen.
