Morning by Morning, March 6 - “Times of Refreshing” in “the Presence of the Lord” Good morning, Lord Jesus. You abide in me and I in You -- Spirit to spirit, Heart to heart, Deep to deep -- as I begin my day in communion with You and seek to continue my day in ever-abiding communion with You (John 15:4). ... “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the Presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:19-21). “Times of refreshing” come “from the Presence of the Lord” (v. 19). Refresh me in Your Presence today, O Lord. Restore me. Renew me. Revive me. All as You refresh me in Your Presence. This refreshing comes through repentance--through my turning to You in the opening of my heart, through You transforming me in the renewing of my mind, through You setting things right within me by the power of Your grace, in the mystery of faith, through this expression of Your love. This refreshing comes not by merely knowing about You, or even merely reading about You even in the sacred Words of the Book of Your Bible, but by pursuing Your Presence, encountering Your Presence, abiding in Your Presence. This refreshing comes from being both grounded in Your Word and also filled with Your Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16 and Ephesians 5:18). “O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh faints for Your Presence!” (Psalm 63:1) “You make known to me the path of life; in Your Presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore!” (Psalm 16:11). As I pursue and embrace Your Presence -- here in these first moments of my morning -- I know You will go with me, even abiding within me, on every step of my day and in all I’ll encounter along the way. You are with me always (Matthew 28:20), never leaving me, never forsaking me (Hebrews 13:5), always renewing me, reviving me, changing and transforming me, making me more like You every day (Romans 8:29). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
