Morning by Morning, July 5 - “God is Spirit” and We “Worship in Spirit and Truth” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let my spirit ascend into the embrace of Your Spirit--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth’” (John 4:21-24). My Father God, You are One with the Holy Spirit and One with the Son of God. And I am one who seeks to worship You in all Your fullness in spirit and truth. You are “Spirit” and You have created each of us with “spirit and soul and body” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). And with my spirit, I worship You. With my spirit, I arise and ascend into the communion of Your Presence in worship and prayer and praise, by the mercy and love of Your grace for me and every one of Your children, with clean hands and pure heart, as I seek Your face and Your fellowship. As Your Word promises all who would seek You and embrace Your invitation to ascend into the holy place Your abiding Presence: “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah” (Psalm 24:3-6). I don’t yet know all this means or yet comprehend the depths of intimacy You desire and that’s available for those who worship You “in spirit and truth,” but I desire for You to teach me and show me and allow me to know and experience as much as I can on this side of heaven. So I lift up my heart to You, Lord. I seek to abide in You, Lord, as You abide in me (John 15:4). In Your extravagant invitation to the spiritual intimacy of communion with You, I “seek Your face” and embrace Your Spirit. For You are Spirit; and I worship You now--here in these first moments of my morning and throughout the moments of my day--“in spirit and truth.” And now “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
