Morning by Morning, July 24 - “The Name of Jesus”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak Your name over my life today. ...
“Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them--walking, leaping, and praising God!” (Acts 3:6-8)
There’s power in Your name, Lord Jesus! There’s healing and life and peace and joy and salvation in Your name, Lord Jesus!
Our Father gave You the name above every name when You set aside the glory of heaven to humble Yourself to come into this world as the Son of Man to offer Your perfect life as a sacrifice of love for us all--to save us and heal us and free us to be all You created us to be in restoration with God:
“Let this mind be in (us) which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father!” (Philippians 2:5-11)
At Your name, I bow my knees. At Your name, I confess with my mouth that You are Lord of my life and Lord of all, to glory of my Father. I confess the truth of the necessity of my salvation and the salvation of all through Your name, through faith and trust in You alone. As Your Word confirms: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
What a beautiful name! What a powerful name! What a mighty and awesome and glorious name!
“All authority has been given to (You) in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). And as we pray and speak in the authority of Your name, our Father hears and moves that we may receive and see the advancing of Your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven--“that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:12).
From the first days of the pouring out of Your Holy Spirit upon Your church, Your body of Christ in the earth, Your disciples who are called by Your name have proclaimed the power and authority of Your name and the dominion of Your kingdom (Acts 2:22). They “preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 8:12). And they “turned the world upside down” in the power and authority of Your name (Acts 17:6).
By the power and authority of Your name, by the moving and working of Your grace in me, that’s what I desire to see--in me and in my world, this day and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. In the love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
