Morning by Morning, July 25 - “No Holding Back”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Looking to You, I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit (Hebrews 12:2). ...
As I’m waiting, what I’m hearing is “No holding back.” ...
And this confirming Word from Your Scripture comes to mind:
“Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.
“Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, ...” (Isaiah 54:2-4).
While others, bound up by the world or held back by the past, may be shrinking back, Your Spirit moves in the hearts of Your people to advance, to enlarge, to expand, to stretch out and spread out. You say, “Do not spare” (v. 2). No shrinking back. No holding back. But only advance and increase.
Another version this Scripture expresses it this way:
“Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.
“Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Don’t be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth...” (Isaiah 54:2-4 NLT).
Wow, “Spare no expense.” That says to me, “Only the best. Nothing less. Don’t settle for less than who we are in You and who You are in us.”
That reminds me of another Word of Your Promises and our identity in You:
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Also translated in another version: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago” (NLT).
Thank You, Lord, for giving us grace to know who are in You. To “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” that we may expand and increase, free from fears and insecurities, confident in who we are in You and who You are in us (2 Peter 3:18). “We do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those have faith and are saved!” (Hebrews 10:39 NIV).
