Morning by Morning, July 3 - “Whatever You Do” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my life and in the middle of every moment of my day (Colossians 3:4). ... “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17). Put Your words in my mouth, Your desires in my heart, Your thoughts in my mind, so that what I say and what I do is a good reflection of You--Your name, Your character, expressed through my life. Let “the word of Christ dwell in (me) richly in all wisdom” (v. 16). I can’t “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” in my own power or goodness, no matter how good my intentions or deep my desires. “For without (You, I) can do nothing” (John 15:5). I must “abide in (You), and (Your) words abide in (me)” (John 15:7). That’s my part--to keep close to You, to keep my heart open to You, to keep allowing You to form Your nature in my nature, Your character in my character, by Your Spirit abiding in my spirit. Only “the Spirit of Christ” dwelling in me can make me more like You (Romans 8:9 and 8:28). Your Spirit, moving in my spirit, gives me both “the desire and the power” to do what pleases You in my words and in my deeds throughout the moments of my day (Philippians 2:13 NLT). This is the goal You set before every one of us who would be Your disciples: “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17). “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). So by the power of Your grace at work within me, giving me the desire by Your power, keep changing me from the inside out, as You keep making me more like You in my words and my deeds, in “whatever (I) do,” in all I am becoming day by day on my spiritual journey with You.
