Morning by Morning, December 10, 2024- Mary was “with Child of the Holy Spirit” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ... “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with Child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins’” (Matthew 1:18-21) Mary was “with Child.” Not with the Child of Joseph, but “with Child of the Holy Spirit” -- the Child of God the Father, conceived by God the Holy Spirit in the human womb of Mary. And the name of this Child would be “Jesus,” meaning the Salvation of God, for through You--Your conception, Your birth, Your life, Your death, Your resurrection from the dead, and Your ascension to Heaven--God would “save His people from their sins” and make a way for our restoration of eternal relationship with God. Thank You for the faith of Mary, for the obedience of Joseph, for the mercy of God. Father, thank You for Jesus, our Savior, conceived by Your Spirit out of Your compassion and mercy for us, for all who would believe what You’ve done and trust in all You can do to restore every one of us to You. Mary was “with Child” so that we could be with You forever. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
