Morning by Morning, December 18, 2024 - Signs and “Wonders of His Love”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and every moment of my day. ...   “And this will be a sign to you:  You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12).   A Baby “lying in a manger” was a “sign” to the shepherds because that was a scene out of place. That was one of the signs and wonders of God -- signs that make you wonder, signs that make you pause and think, signs that make you seek the reason something is so out of place that the only real answer is God alone.   Everything about Your birth was a scene out of place. Not just that You were conceived by the Holy Spirit in the human womb of the Virgin Mary, but that You were conceived at all, that You would set aside the glory of heaven to humble Yourself on our behalf. And just as You began Your life in the likeness of human flesh and blood out of place in our world, that’s how You would end Your life -- out of place, taking our place on the cross to die for our sins, though You were sinless, holy, and perfect in every way.   A Baby “lying in a manger” was a sign of Your humility and a sign of Your sacrifice. It was a sign of Your extreme mercy and a sign of Your extreme love.   In this season of Christmas, where hearts are unusually open to the Message of Christ, to the Love of God, to the Joy and Peace that our weary world so desperately needs, let this “sign” and wonder of this Baby “lying in a manger” turn hearts and lives to You. You are a Sign that makes us wonder. You are a Sign out of place who has taken our place that we could live with You in Your love for us forever. As the song declares we’ve sung for centuries -- “And wonders of His love.... Joy to the world! In Jesus’ name I pray. Be encouraged today.
