Morning by Morning, December 2, 2024 - “Be Brave, Be Strong”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. My eyes are on You to seek You and follow You now and throughout the moments of my day. ...   “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).   We went to the movie on the life of Diedrich Bonhoeffer last night. Powerful and inspiring. Also humbling and convicting. Bonhoeffer was a living example of courage in the face of fear, perseverance in the face of persecution, light in the midst of darkness that refused to diminish or shrink back from speaking the truth and confronting the evil of his day when few others would.   In the days when few would stand against the evils of Hitler’s Nazi Germany, Pastor Bonhoeffer fearlessly proclaimed from the pulpit, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”   Lord, make me more brave, more strong and steadfast in my faith. Give me courage in my convictions with no compromise. Let there be no surrender, no retreat in my life before the enemies of the cross of Jesus Christ.   “We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) -- and the life of Diedrich Bonhoeffer is truly a witness to You and the courage of conviction You grant by Your Spirit to those who will keep the faith, who will “contend earnestly for the faith” with eyes fixed on You (Jude 1:3). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
