Morning by Morning, December 3, 2024 - Turning from Thanksgiving to Christmas Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart, my thoughts, and my day (1 Peter 3:15). ... “To You I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens!” (Psalm 123:1) In the days of transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas, we don’t stop thanking You but now emphasize awaiting You. In the hearts of Christians throughout the earth, there will be an awakening anticipation for the celebration of the birth of Christ. And many who do not yet know You will become much more open to coming to know You as they consider the meaning of “Christ” in “Christmas.” So I turn my eyes and my heart to You in great anticipation and expectation. Even as I’m aware of all the discussions about whether this is the actual, historical date of Your birth and the origins of this celebration on the world’s calendar. But You are the God who redeems all things and causes all things to work together for good (Romans 8:28). “Christmas” is one of those things. There’s no doubt that around the world, the attention of the world is drawn to You, the questions of the world are drawn to You, the wonder of the world is drawn to You. And the “magic of Christmas” will become for many the “mystery of faith” through a deep moving of Your Holy Spirit, with many opening their hearts to You for the salvation of their souls and the experience of the love of God through Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 3:9). Come, Holy Spirit. Come move in the hearts of seekers throughout the earth during this season of anticipation. The world is hungry for more, hungry for truth, hungry for love, hungry for peace. Come lead these hungry hearts to the One who is all of that (John 14:6; 1 John 4:16). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
