Morning by Morning, December 27, 2024 - Christmas is Over, but Jesus Remains Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me deeper, lift me higher, draw me closer, in the increasing intimacy of my personal relationship with You — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... As I wait and listen for Your leading, I hear this in my heart this morning: “I remain. I abide. I am here. I’m with you always.” ... And this Word from Your Scripture: “Abide in Me, and I in you” (John 15:4). From another version of this Scripture, “Remain in Me, as I also remain in you” (John 15:4 NIV). And Your ever-enduring Words of Spirit and Truth, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). What comes to mind in light of these words are these thoughts: In these days after Christmas, when all the presents are opened, when all the wrappings and trappings of the season are put away or thrown out or left behind, You say, “I remain. I abide. I am here. I’m with you always.” Thank You, Lord. Thank You for remaining. You’re still the Reason for the season. Seasons come and go, but You remain. You never go. You’re right here with me. By Your Holy Spirit, You’re even right here “with (me)” and “in (me)” -- right here, right now, never leaving, never forsaking, always remaining, always ever-abiding (John 14:16-17). “Because (we) are sons (and daughters), God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into (our) hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’” (Galatians 4:6) It’s a simple but profound truth: Christmas is over, but Jesus remains. Keep my eyes open to see it, my ears open to hear it, my heart open to receive it — every moment of every day. Christmas is over, but You remain. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
