Morning by Morning, February 11, 2025 - “Praying in the Holy Spirit” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is above every name (Philippians 2:9). So I speak out Your name and listen up for Your voice, as I seek to follow You this day (John 10:27). ... “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 1:20-21). Last night I was so honored to share a word of encouragement with the Aglow Lighthouse in the Hillsboro area of north Texas. I shared my vision from prayer yesterday of the reaching out for a sword and hearing Your Spirit speak to my heart, “Pick up your sword,” and Your confirming Scripture from Ephesians 6:17 that our “sword” is the sword of the Spirit, the word of God., that we’re to be “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (v. 18). We experienced Your Word after teaching on Your Word of this important spiritual grace of intimacy with God and powerful spiritual weapon of the “weapons of our warfare” (2 Corinthians 10:4). For the first time in a long time, I taught on “praying in the Holy Spirit” from Your Word in Jude 1:20, from 1 Corinthians 14:2 that “he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God,” and from v. 4 that “he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself” as one of the “different kinds of tongues” from 1 Corinthians 12:10. And then we all did it together! You gave us visions and interpretations. You gave us words of knowledge and prophetic words. You moved in our hearts to pray for healing and freedom. You lifted up our spirits in communion with Your Spirit, as our bodies were Your temples (1 Corinthians 6:19), for “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (v. 17). As we allowed You to sanctify our tongues, empower our words, trust You in faith that You would be moving through our prayers, we embraced by faith the Promise of Your Word from Romans 8:26 that You would be speaking Your prayers through our surrendered vessels to be praying the word and the will of God as we were “praying in the Holy Spirit”: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27). We’re excited to see all You will do. We thank You now for all You’ve done. And we praise You for this practical, foundational spiritual principle and gift of God to draw us nearer to You, in deep communion with You, as we yield and surrender our spirits, souls, and bodies to You (1 Thessalonians 5:23). For as we draw near to You, You draw near to us (James 4:8). As we seek You with all our hearts, we find You (Jeremiah 29:13). As we abide in You, You abide in us (John 15:4). In these days, You’re calling us and empowering us to pray Your prayers, in accordance with Your will, as we pray by Your Spirit. Lord, awaken within me and in Your people a deeper desire to make more time for “praying in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 1:20). It’s part of our heritage, part of our calling and gifting in our identity as children of God. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
