Morning by Morning, February 4, 2025 - “Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You and listen for Your leading (Psalm 27:8). ... “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1). My mom called to say my stepfather Charles fell out of bed with a heart attack. They got him to the hospital, and I got on the road to come be with them. Praise You, Lord, that he got through it and is recovering well. The latest report from the doctor is that even though he had a heart attack, his heart is fine. You sent forth Your word and healed him (Psalm 107:20). As friends joined in prayer, the most common question was, “Does he know the Lord?” That’s really the most urgent question of all. And I thank You that I was able to respond, “Yes he does.” So even though our physical hearts may be troubled in this world, our spiritual hearts need not be. When we trust in You, with a living, personal relationship with You, we can “Let not (our) hearts be troubled” because our hearts and all our lives are in Your hands. Even if we live a long, full life of many years, that’s not even a sliver of time compared to all eternity. And when our hearts belong to You, we’ll spend all eternity with You (John 3:16). As You invite us all, “I AM the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25). When our hearts belong to You, “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). So when our hearts belong to You, our hearts need not ever be troubled. I thank You that I was able to be with Charles this morning when he woke up in his hospital bed with a smile and a request for his coffee. But I know he would have been smiling much bigger if he would have woken up in Heaven to have his coffee with You! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
