Morning by Morning, May 21 - He Sends Out His Word Through Us!
Good morning, Lord Jesus! Come arise in my heart with “the Spirit of Christ” to make me more like You today in all I am and all I do by the power of Your grace (Romans 8:9). ...
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He saved them from their distress;
He sent out His word and healed them,
and delivered them from destruction.
Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wonderful works to humankind” (Psalm 107:19-21).
O Lord, I’m amazed by the power of Your word! You send out Your word to save and heal and deliver. You send out Your word to convict and strengthen and equip. You send out Your word to comfort and encourage and love. When we humble ourselves to cry out You, You come in the power of Your mercy and grace and love to help us and heal us and free us. I thank You and praise You for Your wonderful works and Your mighty word!
And at the same time, I’m amazed that in Your sovereignty and authority, You even entrust Your word to us, to send out Your words through us -- as sons and daughters of our Father God, as disciples and followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s almost too amazing to be true that You would value us and trust us that much.
Yet it’s true. As Your Word declares:
“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us...” (2 Corinthians 5:17-20).
Astounding! Amazing! Almost incomprehensible! “We are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us!”
You send forth Your word to save and heal and deliver, to convict and encourage and equip, to comfort and encourage and love through us!
And You confirm Your heart and will to do this through us in this nearly unfathomable Word of Your Scripture of Your desire to speak Your word and send out Your word through us:
“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever!” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
You’re glorified when we obey You to be Your ambassadors. You’re glorified when we walk in the gifts You’ve entrusted to each of us with the grace and strength You supply.
It’s all for Your glory, not ours. And it’s all in Your will and Your way, not ours. But it’s all according to Your masterful plan of how You display Your glory through our lives when we entrust our lives completely to You:
“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.... But just as we have the same Spirit of faith that is in accordance with Scripture -- ‘I believed, and so I spoke’ -- we also believe, and so we speak, because we know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into His presence. Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God!” (2 Corinthians 4:7-15)
Increase thanksgiving in our hearts today! Let Your word go out. Let Your will be done on earth as it is heaven -- all by You, but also, amazingly, astonishingly, by You through us!
Let us not waste a moment or despise our inheritance or dishonor our birthright as sons and daughters of our Father God. You’re still sending out Your word. And You’re still being glorified as You send out Your word and Your love -- all in the power of Your grace -- through us! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
