Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and wait for Your leading, as I direct my thoughts and open my heart to begin my day embraced by my Father, abiding in the Son, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...
“Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see -- I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord’” (Luke 2:9-11).
You’re still our Good News of Great Joy!
You were when You were born in the manger at Bethlehem 2,000 years ago and You are still are today when You’re born in every heart that embraces Your mercy and love as Savior, Messiah, and Lord.
When we hear the Good News, we’re filled with great joy. And when we take hold of that Good News to make it our own and share it with the world in such desperate need of the peace and joy that only You can provide, You still release Your joy to the world through us. For by Your Spirit abiding in us, we are Your messengers of hope and carriers of joy as Your disciples and ambassadors. “We are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). In the mystery of faith and mercy of grace, we are “the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27). “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27) -- Christ in us, sharing the hope and peace and love of God to bring joy to our world today, as Your Holy Spirit turns human hearts to You to embrace Your good news of great joy!
When we pray the Lord’s prayer, that “Your Kingdom come” and “Your will be done,” we’re praying for more joy in our hearts and more joy on earth as it is in heaven. For You said, “the kingdom of God is within (us)” (Luke 17:21 KJV). And Your Word says, “the kingdom of God is ... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).
Come, Holy Spirit. Fill my heart with the Good News of Great Joy of Jesus -- my Savior, Messiah, and Lord today. Let it bubble up and flow out of me everywhere You send me to bring more of Your joy to our world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
