Morning by Morning, April 22 - “No Fear of Bad News” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my life and in every moment of my day. ... “Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes” (Psalm 112:6-8). My righteousness is in You, Lord--not anything I’ve done or deserved. But as I trust in You, You put a right spirit in me. As I trust in You, I triumph over my foes and all the spiritual forces of this world that would try to steal my peace, my joy, or even my faith. But as I trust in You, You make my heart steadfast and my faith secure. Then “bad news” doesn’t shake me. Hard times don’t derail me. The challenges of life we all go through in one form or another, through one season after another, only serve to draw me closer to You, to cause me to trust even more deeply in You. By the power of Your grace at work in me, I will have “no fear of bad news” because my hope and faith is in the One who’s Word and Spirit keeps me focused and grounded in the Good News of Your steadfast love that never ceases and Your mercies that never come to an end, but are new every morning, for great is Your faithfulness to me, O Lord (Lamentations 3:22-23). Great is Your Good News to be, O Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
