Morning by Morning, April 25 - “Lord, I Need You” and You’re Always Meeting My Need Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re my Vine and I’m one of Your branches--abiding in You, trusting in You, resting in You, finding my life in You, this day and every day. ... “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (John 15:1-8). My part is to keep my eyes on You, keep attached to You, keep close to You. Then Your Spirit and Your Life keeps flowing into me, keeps flowing through me, keeps bearing good fruit through me. I can’t do any of that on my own. Without You I can do nothing (v. 5). Nothing good comes from failing to abide in You. So I never want to be without You. I never want to be detached from You or pulled away from You. But always actively, intentionally, deliberately choosing to abide in You. As the worship song says, “Lord, I need You every hour.” And every hour, You’re always meeting my need, as You keep abiding in me and keep giving me the grace to keep abiding in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
