Morning by Morning, April 15 - “Wall of Fire” Around Jerusalem and Around Us Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Rock and Refuge, the One who’s always with me and never fails. ... As our world is stunned and reeling after witnessing waves of missiles and attack drones launched against Israel directly from Iran, this Word of Yours comes to mind this morning: “‘For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around (Jerusalem), and I will be the glory in her midst’” (Zechariah 2:5). The weapons Israel deployed for her defense -- the Iron Dome, the David’s Sling, along with all her ariel defense systems joined by nations of the world coming to her defense -- were the physical means of Your supernatural protection. This time, almost every projectile fell to the ground after being shot down from the skies before ever reaching its target of inflicting destruction and terror. So in these unprecedented times we’ve never seen before at this level of engagement, I’m stirred by Your command to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6). “I will now say, ‘Peace be within you” (v. 8). Lord, You are her “Wall of Fire” around her. You are her “Glory” within her. May the hearts of her people be drawn near to You to embrace You as Lord and Savior, Messiah and King, causing even these violent actions intended for her destruction to turn her heart to her Salvation. May the minds of her leaders be drawn to You for Your wisdom, discernment, and determination. And for all that’s under attack in our own lives--whether from physical sources or spiritual sources--You be our “Wall of Fire” around us and our “Glory” within us. You keep giving us courage and faith, wisdom and discernment and determination, to keep believing Your Truth and standing on the Promise of Your Word: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17). In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
