Morning by Morning, November 6 - Pressing In for Healing Mercy and Love of God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Savior, my Healer, my Deliverer. You are the fullness of my salvation and forever in my heart. I begin my day looking to You and listening for Your voice.  ...

"A large crowd followed (Jesus) and pressed in on Him. Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years.... She heard about Jesus, and came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His cloak, for she said, 'If I but touch His clothes, I will be made well.' Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease" (Mark 5:24-29).

The woman with the issue of blood had heard about You and Your love for all people. She had heard about Your power to heal hearts and bodies to the glory of God. So she found You and pressed in for an encounter with You. Her suffering drove her to her Savior. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled" (Matthew 5:6).

No doubt she had felt ashamed and isolated for those twelve years of her sickness and suffering. Under the law of Moses, she was considered "unclean" with her "impurity" and everything and everyone she touched was considered to be defiled by "the uncleanness of her impurity" (Leviticus 15:25-27). What a risk she was taking to press through the crowds and press through the culture to touch You and take hold of Your garments with her faith!

As she did, You were "immediately aware that power had gone forth from (You)" (Mark 5:30). You knew someone was healed, someone was set free by the power of the love of God. Yet it mattered to You who it was. You wanted to look in their eyes and speak to their heart. You "looked all around to see who had done it," asking, "Who touched My clothes?" (v. 5:30-32).

She humbled herself before You "in fear and trembling," not denying her sin of touching You in her impurity and not denying the hope that was in her heart to experience and encounter the healing power of Your mercy and love (v. 5:33). She confessed to You "the whole truth," holding nothing back from You (v. 5:33).

But instead of shaming her or condemning her, instead of lecturing her about the law or teaching her to just accept her lot in life and be satisfied with her condition, You blessed her and encouraged her. You honored her, calling her "Daughter" and declaring to her and to all who were there to see and hear, "Your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease" (v. 5:34).

All that You did for her and for all who pressed in to take hold of Your mercy and love as You walked this earth was an expression in the flesh of the heart of God (John 5:19). And all that You continue to do for me and for all who press in past the crowds and our culture, past our suffering and sin to experience and encounter You and the healing power of Your mercy and love come to know the Father heart of God revealed through Jesus Christ as Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 13:8).

You're still healing the broken-hearted and setting the captives free. You're stilling proclaiming the coming of the Kingdom of God and demonstrating it the power of God (Isaiah 61:1, fulfilled in Luke 4:18). You're still seeking out all who will press in by faith to take hold of You. I praise God for Your mercy and love. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may the Spirit of God compel you to press in to Jesus, past everything that would hold you back from fully experiencing and encounter the power and love of God. Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, November 5 - "Exact Imprint"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Rule and reign as Lord and King in my life today.  ...

"Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by the Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also created the worlds. He is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, and He sustains all things by His powerful word" (Hebrews 1:1-3).

Lord Jesus, You are the "exact imprint" of our Father's being. You perfectly reveal the Father's heart and perfectly express the Father's love. You and the Father are One (John 10:30).

And now, by the grace of God and the mystery of faith, we are one with You as the Body and Bride of Christ, filled with the Spirit of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). You've even imparted Your glory to arise and shine upon us as an expression of Your heart and life flowing through us to the world around us, saying to the Father, "The glory that You have given Me I have given them, so that they may be one, as We are One" (John 17:22).

By the power of the grace of God, we are now to be Your "exact imprint" in this world. "Love has been perfected among us in this:  that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17). Fully surrendered to Your will and fully committed to Your ways, by the Spirit of God abiding in us, You have created us and invited us to "become participants of the divine nature" (2 Peter 1:4).

Father God, You are at work within us, individually and together as the Body of Christ, conforming us into the image, truly the "exact imprint," of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). We can't earn it or deserve it; we can't control it or make it happen, but by the power of the grace of God we can embrace it as our identity and destiny in Christ. "For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). Lord, let it be so in me and in us. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may you be filled with the Spirit of Christ and conformed into the image of Christ as part of the Body of Christ to be an exact imprint of the heart of the Father on this earth. Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, November 1 - “Treasure in Clay Jars”

Morning by Morning, November 1 - “Treasure in Clay Jars”

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me listen for Your voice and follow the leading of Your Spirit.  ...

“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us” (2 Corinthians 4:7).

Lord, take the clay of my heart and shape it as You will today. Fill me with the Treasure of Your Spirit in communion with my spirit. Scoop up the dust of the earth that You’ve created to become my body and breathe Your breath of life into me, that I may be a living soul, fully-surrendered and fully alive to You today. May “the life of Jesus be made visible in (my) body” as You express Your life through me today (v. 4:10). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, November 4 - "Believe in the Son of God"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am, Lord -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Speak to my heart and lead me by my spirit into the way and truth and life You have for me today.  ...

"Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe God have made Him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And this is the testimony:  God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life" (1 John 5:10-12).

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in the Son of God. I believe You are the Son of God, God the Son -- the One who perfectly reveals the heart and nature of God the Father and lives in my heart to make me more like You every day through God the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 1:3). I believe You are and the Father are One, that You are in Him, that He is in You, that You are in me, and I am in You by the constant communion of the Holy Spirit of God forever abiding in me (John 14:20).

So come live Your life through me today. May the life I live be lived by the faith of the Son of God living in me (Galatians 2:20). In the power of Your grace and love, You forgive me from my sins, heal me from my wounds, free me from my chains, and fill me with Your Spirit. Let this be my testimony of my heart and the declaration of my life, this day and every day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, October 31 - Spirit of Light and Life

Good morning, Lord Jesus. On this day many celebrate the darkness and the dead, I want to start my day celebrating the Light and the Living One. Instead of filling my thoughts with ghosts and goblins, witches and skeletons, I want You to fill my mind and my heart with Your Holy Spirit and power until my bones rattle in the mighty rushing wind of Your Presence. ...

"If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through His Spirit that dwells in you" (Romans 8:11).

Come, Holy Spirit! Cleanse my soul, awaken my spirit, fill my body, sweep through my city with the light of the glory of God. "For it is the God who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I had a great time speaking on prayer and transformation last night at The Park Community Church in San Antonio. Tonight we'll be teaching our Level 2 School of Ministry for Sozo Inner Healing Prayer Ministry at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio. It was wonderful to speak on stewardship of spirit, soul, and body at the FUMC in La Grange last weekend. Thank you for keeping me and our ministry in prayer as we help equip the saints for the work of ministry and allow the Holy Spirit to continue His transformation process in our lives and city. I pray the same for you, my friends!

Morning by Morning, October 30 - "Draw Near to Listen"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Awaken my spirit to arise into newness of life today.  ...

"Guard your steps when you go to the house of God; to draw near to listen is better than the sacrifice offered by fools ..." (Ecclesiastes 5:1).

As I come to the house of God, as I come to the place of prayer where my heart is Your house, give me grace to approach in humility and reverence, with intimacy and faith, honoring You as my God and King, yet also as my Best Friend and Life-long Companion (John 15:15). Let me guard my steps from presumption or pride, but also from doubt and unbelief. Let me come boldly to Your throne of grace because You've forgiven me of my sins and drawn me near in Your love (Hebrews 4:16).

And as I draw near to listen for Your voice and the leading of Your Spirit, help me be quiet to watch and wait for Your words of truth and life to my heart. ...

It seems I hear You say, "My son, do not hold back. Draw near. As you draw near to Me, I always draw near to you. In this very moment, I am strengthening you and encouraging you; I am preparing you for the steps you'll walk through this day. Know that I will go with you; and in fact, I have already gone before you. Trust Me and come follow Me, My friend."

Yes, Lord. I choose to believe I'm hearing Your voice, as I sense Your Presence and Your peace (John 10:3). I'm a child of God, created and called to be led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). As I listen and hear, I am encouraged and strengthened. And I'm excited to see where You'll lead me today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, October 29 - Together "Face to Face"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Continually come into my heart; continually flow out of my heart. Help me abide in You always, as You abide in me.  ...

"Although I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink; instead I hope to come to you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete" (2 John 12).

You've created us for relationships that are close, personal, and intimate at varying levels that are appropriate to the levels of relationship and trust You've established in our lives. And while we can communicate through electronic technology and sometimes even paper and ink, there's something significant in speaking face to face, looking one another in the eyes, extending a touch, and exchanging an embrace. Your Spirit draws us out of isolation and loneliness into friendship and fellowship with one another, "not neglecting to meet together ... but encouraging one another" (Hebrews 10:22). And then "our joy may be complete."

Lord, free us from isolation and loneliness in Your Body. Align our hearts and relationships with You and with one another according to Your sovereign purposes and plans for our lives. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

You're always with us to help; and at the same, You also position the ones You have chosen to walk with us in the relationships of our journey to be an extension of Your hands to help us and an expression of Your face to look into our eyes and encourage us. And then, together, "our joy may be complete."

You're a God of personal relationship -- relationship with You and with one another. Establish Your relationships in our lives. Give us courage and faith to trust You to know what's best for each one of us. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, October 25 - Extravagantly Generous

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my thoughts and all that I say and do throughout the moments of my day.  ...

"Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever" (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Every gift I have is a gift from You. Every good thing in me and my life is an expression of the goodness of God. Apart from You, there's nothing good in me; but I praise You, Lord God, that I never have to be apart from You. So when I speak, when I serve, when I give, when I pray, when I love, let me do all things in Your strength by Your leading for Your glory.

"Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change" (James 1:17). So give me Your generous Spirit -- extravagantly generous in all things because You've been extravagantly generous to me (John 3:16). "What are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold His own Son, but gave Him up for us, will He not with Him also give us everything else?" (Romans 8:31-32) You've given all for me; by the power of Your grace, I choose to give all to You. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray the Lord will lavish His extravagant generosity upon every area of your life today, as He pours out that same Spirit through you to others. Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, October 23 - "A Cheerful Giver"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You've shown me Your Father, saved me by Your Blood, and filled me with Your Spirit. I love You, Lord, and thank You, Lord, for first loving me.  ...

"The point is this:  the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:6).

Lord, fill me with the joy of giving -- giving abundantly from the heart of all that I am and all that have all to You. You've taught me so many times in so many ways that "You can't out-give God."

It's You've nature to give. Father, You give us Your Son (John 3:16). You give us Your Spirit (Acts 2:4). You give us the fullness of Your salvation (Romans 9:13). You give us "abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20). And I want to be a giver like You -- a cheerful giver in the joy of Your Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray the Spirit will stir in your spirit with the joy of giving all that you have and all that you to the glory of God from every dimension of your life. May you be a cheerful giver! Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, October 22 - Press On to Perfection

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, fill my spirit, soul, and body with the fullness of Your Presence in the communion of prayer. ...

"Therefore let us go to toward perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and laying again the foundation:  repentance from dead works and faith toward God, instruction about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and the eternal judgment... Ground that drinks up the rain falling on it repeatedly, and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God" (Hebrews 6:1-7).

Lord, let Your Word fall like rain, repeatedly every day, on the ground of my heart, plowed and prepared for You. Let Your Spirit come rest upon me, repeatedly every day, like the dew of the morning, refreshed and renewed. I want to be useful to You and fruitful for Your Kingdom.

Thank You for the foundations of the faith You've established in my spirit, like well-planted seeds that are broken-up by pressure and time so that my spiritual life can arise out of the soil to grow into maturity, to go on toward perfection. And the perfection You desire form me is a life wholly devoted to You (Matthew 22:37-40). This is the fulfillment of Your command, "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48).

Yes, Lord -- all in Your time, all in Your way, all by the power of Your grace at work within me by Your Spirit (Philippians 2:13). "Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own.... I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:12-14). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray the Holy Spirit continues to stir in your heart to press on to perfection through the soaking Presence of God by His Word and Spirit upon your life repeatedly every day. Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, October 21 - "With My Whole Heart"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my eyes and open up my heart to welcome You in to every area of my life and every moment of my day. ...

"I give You thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing Your praise; I bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness; for You have exalted Your name and Your word above everything. In the day I called You answered me, and You increased my strength of soul... The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands" (Psalm 138:1-8).

With my whole heart, with an undivided heart, with a heart that holds nothing back, I worship You, I give You thanks, I give Your praise, I give You all that I have and all that I am, as best as I can and all by Your grace. Let there be nothing ever between us, nothing ever to take my heart or my focus away from You and Your purpose for my life.

You've filled my life with good things. And even in the most tragic and painful times, You've displayed over and again Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness to me. You constantly increase my strength of soul. You persistently awaken my spirit to arise into daily communion with Your Spirit. You unfailingly exalt Your name and Your word and Your will above every circumstance and challenge that would seek to derail Your plans for my journey of faith with You -- never because I deserve it, but always because You love me. By the grace of God to redeem it all, Your steadfast love for me, O Lord, endures forever. So how could I help but love You and thank You with my whole heart? In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, October 18 - Obedient from the Heart

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be Lord of my spirit, soul, and body; Lord my mind, will, and emotions; Lord my past, present, and future; Lord of my identity, security, and destiny; Lord my possessions, positions, and promises; Lord my relationships, opportunities, and challenges; Lord of my hopes, dreams, and desires. Be Lord of all.  ...

"Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that you, having once been slaves of sin, have become obedient from the heart ... and that you, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness... For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness for sanctification" (Romans 6:16-19).

Lord Jesus, I choose You as my Master and Lord. I ask You to change me from the inside out until I "become obedient from the heart" -- not just obedient because I know in my heart it's right, but obedient because in my heart I long to be right.

Free me from the slavery of sin -- not just in my actions, but also in my thoughts and desires. "The end of those things is death" (v. 6:21). But create in me a clean heart; renew a right spirit within me. Cause me to desire the life You've chosen for me, with an honest desire for holiness of heart and life from the inside out. "The end (of that) is eternal life" -- not just a life of joy and peace in heaven when I die, but a life of joy and peace in my heart now (v. 6:22). So in the power of Your grace, Lord, make my heart right so I can be obedient from the heart. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may Jesus be Lord of every area of your life, may His Holy Spirit change your heart from the inside out more and more every day to be more like Him. May He be your Master and Lord. May you desire holiness of heart and life so you can be obedient to God from the heart. Please pray the same the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
