Morning by Morning, January 4 - Whatever Comes, “The Word of our God Will Stand Forever”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Speak to me and lead me in this time of communion in prayer, as I begin my day deliberately seeking You and embracing Your Presence -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“The grass withers, the flower fades;
but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8).
It’s Your word that sustains us when the grass withers and when the flowers fade. It’s Your word that supports us and strengthens us through the winter seasons and the desert times. It’s Your word that stands firm, faithful and true, when everything else wobbles and withers under the pressures and powers coming against us and all around us on our lifelong journey through this broken and fallen world.
Your word endures. Your word prevails. Your word never falters and never fails.
“Every word of God proves true;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (Proverbs 30:5).
“God is not a human being, that He should lie,
or a mortal, that He should change His mind.
Has He promised, and will he not do it?
Has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19).
“Remember this and consider,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My purpose shall stand,
and I will fulfill My intention,’
calling a bird of prey from the east,
the man for My purpose from a far country.
I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have planned, and I will do it” (Isaiah 46:8-11).
Yes, Lord. You will do it. You will fulfill every word You’ve ever spoken. As You said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). You will fulfill every word You’ve ever written. As You said, “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18 NKJV).
So as I prepare my heart to go forward into this new year -- into all that I may face and encounter and endure and overcome, into all that may be fading or flourishing, withering away or springing forth in abundance -- I will trust in You and stand firm in Your word, all by the power of Your grace. “For the word of (my) God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8).
As I entrust this day and this year to You, the words of an old song of praise and trust, grounded in Your Word rises up in my spirit and rests secure in the thoughts of my mind, being renewed in You:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (from Psalm 119:105 KJV).
Let every word You have spoken, every Word You have written, be my lamp and my light, as I continue my journey this year on my spiritual adventure, morning by morning trusting in You. For You are “The Word of God” (Revelation 19:13). And You are always “Faithful and True” (Revelation 19:11). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
My friend, may you be grounded, confident, and secure in every word of God He has spoken and every Word He has written, as you journey through this new year trusting in the One who is The Word of God, Faithful and True, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
