Morning by Morning, January 6 - Revelation of God by the Spirit of God
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let Your Word come alive in my spirit, as I look and listen for Your leading, here in these first moments of my morning (John 10:27). ...
“But, as it is written,
‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love Him’--
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For what human being knows what is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one comprehends what is truly God’s except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual” (1 Corinthians 2:13-19).
Holy Spirit of God, You search all things and reveal all things. You bring to life the Word of God which is the final Word on all things, always pointing us toward the One who is the Word of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
“When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but will speak whatever He hears, and He will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify Me, because He will take what is Mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is Mine. For this reason I said that He will take what is Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:13-15).
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God -- You are One; and You come to abide as One within us -- all in the mystery of our faith and the mercy of Your grace:
“As You, Father, are in Me and I am in You, may they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. The glory that You have given Me I have given them, so that they may be one, as We are One, I in them and You in Me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me” (John 17:21-23).
With You abiding in us by Your Holy Spirit abiding here in our hearts, in our human spirits, You lead us into the truth. You lead us to the One who is the Truth, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who continues to say:
“I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you know Me, you will know My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.... Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me.... If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him because He abides with you, and He will be in You” (John 14:6-17, with spaces between these highlighted phrases).
Your Word, Your Truth, is revealed to us by Your Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit -- Spirit of the Living God. Come reveal the Truth of Your Word into my heart today and every day. Bring the Word of God to life in my life today and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
