Morning by Morning, September 23 - "Come and See"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. All that I am and all that I have, I entrust to You -- as best as I can and all by Your grace.  ...

"Then the woman left her water jar and went back to the city. She said to the people, 'Come and see a Man who told me everything I have ever done! He cannot be the Messiah, can He?' They left the city and were on their way to Him" (John 4:28-30).

Like the woman at the well, Your Holy Spirit invites every heart to "Come and see" -- to come and see the One who knows everything we've ever done and yet still loves us, to come and see the One who welcomes us to drink the living water of life in Christ, to come and see the One who takes all our pain and shame to turn it into a passion and joy of sharing our hope and faith with everyone we know and all who will listen.

Holy Spirit, who will You bring across my path today who desperately needs a deep drink of the Living Water, who desperately needs a personal encounter with the Living God who longs to turn their pain into praise and their shame into shouts of joy? At one time or anther, we've all been like the woman at the well -- wounded by our world or pounded by our past -- and we can also become the one whose life has been changed forever by an encounter with Jesus, the Messiah -- the One sent from God our Father to offer us a life of peace and joy, finding freedom from our past and fulfillment in Him.

By the grace of God, I'm choosing to drink deeply from the well of Your living water today. And I'm choosing to be available and willing to invite someone else to come and see what You've shown me in the power of Your mercy and love. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray you will be filled with peace and joy, as you drink deeply of the living waters of our Messiah today and invited someone else to experience the One who knows all about us and loves us still, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 22 - Worship Changes Me

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I know I need my thoughts to become more like Your thoughts, my desires to become more like Your desires, my nature to become more like Your nature. And I know we become like what we worship, what gets our attention gets our heart. So I worship You, Lord God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- and welcome You to make me more like You.  ...

"And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18).

In these morning times of my communion of prayer with You, I want to come before You with an unveiled face, with an open heart, with a hungry spirit. I want to seek You, to see Your glory, to embrace Your Presence in worship and in prayer. And as I do, I know You are changing me, transforming me and my thoughts and my desires and my nature, more into Your image from one degree of glory to another, from glory to glory.

None of this comes from me. This comes from You, from Your Spirit at work within me, changing me from the inside out, to be more like You. In that way, while all my worship is for You, You even use my worship as a means of Your grace to help me, to transform me into Your image, that I may be conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29).

Come, Holy Spirit. Have Your way and do Your work in me today, as I worship You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- "in spirit and truth" (John 4:23). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray the Spirit of the Lord will transform you into the image of the Son of God, from glory to glory, more every day, as you worship the Lord your God in spirit and truth, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Friends, please keep us in prayer as we finish our Level 1 School of Ministry on the Biblical Principles of Inner Healing Prayer Ministry this week. Even as we learn, God is displaying His glory through His healing and freedom in every session. We heard a beautiful and powerful testimony from one of our students last night of the deep healing of the heart and breaking free from the chains of the past that God has been doing during our study. Praise God! I pray for breakthroughs in your life and equipping for your ministry! DVDs of our School of Ministry are available from the Rapha God Ministries website. God bless you!

Please come join us and spread the word for our Ministry Fundraiser Golf Tournament, with celebrity golfers Max Lucado, Randy Frazee, and Jim Barker on October 8th. We just found out last night Jeremy Camp is coming to to play golf with us in San Antonio between his concerts in Dallas and Houston. Praise God!

Morning by Morning, September 21 - "Seize the Hope," Your "Anchor of the Soul"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.   ...

"When God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose, He guaranteed it by an oath, so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus, a forerunner on our behalf, has entered, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek" (Hebrews 6:17-20).

Lord, You've "strongly encouraged" me to "seize the hope set before (me)" as "a sure and steadfast anchor of (my) soul." What do You mean by this "hope" and how do I seize it?  ...

It seems I hear You speaking to my heart, "I Am your Hope. To hope in Me is to trust in Me, to believe in Me and My nature. Know that I Am a good God with a good heart for My children, and I have a good plan in My purposes for your life. Seize this hope by seeking Me, pursuing Me, choosing to trust Me with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength."  ...

Yes, Lord. Your Word comes to mind:  "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon Me and come and pray to Me, I will hear you. When you search for Me, you will find Me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find Me, says the Lord..." (Jeremiah 29:11-14).

So as best as I can and all by Your grace, I choose to seize the hope. I consciously, deliberately choose to seek You, to pursue You, to trust You will all my heart, all my mind, all my soul, and all my strength (Mark 12:30). And by the power of the grace of God, I will not be tossed two and fro in wavering doubt no matter what I go through on my journey through this broken and fallen world. I will trust and know that You are with me and You are at work within me to work out Your good purposes according to Your good plan for my life. That's my future with hope in You. And that hope is "sure and steadfast anchor of (my) soul." In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray the One who is your Hope will be a sure and steadfast Anchor to your soul, as you trust in Him with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength, in Jesus' name.

Praise God!

Morning by Morning, September 20 - "The Set Time" to Set Things Right

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by the hand and lead me by Your Spirit through the moments of my day. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as You make me more like You today.  ...

"At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity. When the earth totters, with all its inhabitants, it is I who keep its pillars steady. I say to the boastful, 'Do not boast,' and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horn....' It is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another" (Psalm 75:2-7).

There's a set time that You set things right. You set in place the ones You have chosen for Your purposes. You put one down and lift  up another. You appoint this one and anoint that one. We have our freedom of will, but so do You. Our world and our will may waiver and shake as it totters and trembles in the face of the challenges of the day, but You are steady and sure. You're right as rain -- never wrong, never caught off guard, never wondering how it's all going to work out. You're just "Faithful and True," come hell or high water (Revelation 19:11).

So steady the pillars of my soul. Be the rock of my salvation. "For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them He has set the world. He will guard the feet of His faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might does one prevail. The Lord! His adversaries shall be scattered; the Most High will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; He will give strength to His (chosen), and exalt the power of His anointed" (1 Samuel 2:8-10). Lord, let it be so -- not my will, but Yours be done. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray you will be steady in the pillars of your soul, trusting in the One who sets things right -- all in His time and all in His way, for your good and His glory, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 19 - Whispering of Terror, but the Roaring of the Almighty

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Thank You for the invitation to begin my day and join in this journey of prayer with You each day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  ...

"For I hear the whispering of many -- terror all around! -- as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in Your hand.... O how abundant is Your goodness that you have laid up for those who fear You, and accomplished for those who take refuge in You, in the sight of everyone. In the shelter of Your presence You hide them from human plots; You hold them safe under Your shelter.... Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord" (Psalm 31:13-24).

It seems the times of terror have invaded our shores again. Bombs in New York and New Jersey, stabbings in Minnesota, and there's the whispering of more to come. But our time is in Your hand. And we find our refuge in the shelter of Your presence.

By the power of the grace of God, we will be strong in Your strength and take courage in Your covering. "(We) who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.' ... (We) will not fear the terror.... We will only look with (our) eyes and see the punishment of the wicked" (Psalm 91:1-8).

Bring the heart of our nation under the covering of the Almighty. Rebuild the breach in our walls through humility and prayer, turning to You alone as our refuge, our fortress, and our strength. Let Your perfect love cast out all fear (1 John 4:18). "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

Terror may whisper in the night, but the Most High, the Lord God Almighty, utters His voice and roars from His throne before the hosts of His armies of heaven! (Amos 1:2; Joel 2:11; Psalm 18:13; Psalm 91:11-16; Revelation 19:11-16) "So we may boldly say:  'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?' (Hebrews 13:6 NKJV) In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray you are filled with power, love, and sound mind from the Most High, the Lord God Almighty, as He sets terror to flight from Your heart and the heart of our nation, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 16 - "Take Possession" of His Promises and Our Inheritance

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let faith arise in my heart, as I settle down and draw close to You in my spirit, to begin my day in the deep communion of prayer.  ...

"See, I have set the land before you; go in and take possession of the land that I swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their descendants after them" (Deuteronomy 1:8).

Open the eyes of my heart to see all You've set before me. Give me the courage and the faith to take possession of all that You've already given to me by the grace of God.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love. He destined us for adoption as His children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace that He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:3-6).

You are the God "who has blessed us." It's already done; it's already accomplished; it's already ours. And You've already blessed us "with every spiritual blessing." You've held nothing back from us, but given all to us. We didn't deserve it; we didn't earn it. But it's ours "in Christ" because You "destined us for adoption as (Your) children through Jesus Christ." It's all by Your "glorious grace that (You) freely bestowed on us (already) in the Beloved (our Savior Jesus Christ)."

And now, just as You spoke to Moses and the children of Israel to go in and "take possession" of the land of their inheritance in the physical realm, You speak to us in Christ to go in and "take possession" of the land of our inheritance in the spiritual realm. "In Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham" has become ours as well, "so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (Galatians 3:14).

It's already done. You've already blessed us. And now it's up to us -- as best as we can and all by the power of Your grace -- to go "take possession" of all You've freely given to us through the sacrifice of Christ. Let us never "neglect so great a salvation" (Hebrews 2:3). Let us never take for granted this "indescribable gift" we have through "the surpassing grace of God that He has given (us)" (2 Corinthians 9:14-15). "For in Him every one of God's promises is a 'Yes.' For this reason it is through Him that we say the 'Amen,' to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

I pray you will take possession of the fullness of your inheritance of every spiritual blessing God has already given you in Jesus Christ and experience the surpassing glory of His grace every day, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 14 - The King and the Kingdom are "At Hand"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I am Yours and You are mine. Help me start this day well -- embraced by the Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit.  ...

"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:15 NKJV).

Your kingdom is "at hand." The King and the kingdom are here. And You invite me to turn and take hold of Your kingdom, to embrace and believe the good news of all You have done for me and make available to me through the power of Your grace.

So I lift up my hands and open up my heart. I embrace Your kingdom today. I embrace Your kingdom within me today -- "for indeed, the kingdom of God is within (me)" (Luke 17:21 NKJV). And I embrace the King of the kingdom of God within me today -- the "King of kings and the Lord of lords" who comes to rule and reign in my heart (Revelation 19:16).

As I take hold of Your kingdom, as I let the King of the kingdom take hold of me, I begin to live into the fullness of this good news of this good life You've given to me -- full of righteousness, peace, and joy. "For the kingdom of God is ... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17).

You've already done it for me -- "The time is fulfilled." My part is simply to "Repent and believe." And so I do -- as best as I can and all by Your grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

May you take hold of Your King and His kingdom, as you let Him take hold of your heart and embrace His good news in your life today, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 13 - United in One Spirit

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading, as I begin my day in the communion of prayer for You.  ...

"Anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him" (1 Corinthians 6:17).

Unite me with You, my Lord. Make me one spirit with You. Put Your thoughts in my mind. Put Your desires in my heart. Pour Your Spirit into my spirit. More of Your will, more of Your nature, more of You in my life.

You increase, as I decrease in my submission to Your authority and my embrace of Your intimacy -- as best as I can and all by Your grace (John 3:30). Thank You for Your promise and the grace to live into it a little more each day, that "Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this:  when He is revealed, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is. And all who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure" (1 John 3:2).

United in You, help me grow in my sense of oneness with You. "There is one body and one Spirit, just as (we) were called to the one hope of (our) calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:4-6). "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of (us)" (2 Corinthians 13:13). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

May you be united as one spirit with the Lord -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- as He make you more like Him each day, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, September 12 - "Rekindle the Gift of God"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I dedicate my heart and mind and soul and strength to You this day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  ...

"For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands" (2 Timothy 1:6).

Rekindle the gift of God within me, Lord. Rekindle the flame. Stir up my spirit. Awaken my soul. Revive my passion for You and Your kingdom and Your will to come and be done, in me and my world, on earth as it is in heaven. Spur me on in my faith to live into the fullness of my identity as a son of God and fulfill my destiny as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Your Word wouldn't encourage us to "rekindle the gift" if it weren't possible for our gifts to grow cold, for our faith to fade, and for our passion to grow stale. As these days unfold and the intensities of the battles around us in our world increase, even "the love of many will grow cold" (Matthew 24:12).

So let me never "neglect so great a salvation" (Hebrews 1:3). And let me never neglect the treasures of God You've poured into my heart by Your Spirit through Your mercy and grace (2 Corinthians 4:7). I'm no longer my own, bought with a price by the love of God (1 Corinthians 6:20).

And now, "like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, (we) serve one another with whatever gift each of (us) has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever!" (1 Peter 4:10-11)

Come, Holy Spirit. On this Monday morning and every morning, set my heart ablaze again and rekindle the gift of God within me today! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

May God rekindle His gift within you today to display His glory through your life with fresh passion and renewed purpose, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
