Awakening a Craving for God 2-13-06

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Thank You for the gift of starting the day with You. Take me by the hand and lead me by the heart, as I awaken and arise to follow You. ... "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:9-13) The meaning of "ask" in this passage carries the idea of craving, desiring, and even requiring. Lord, the revival You are releasing at Asbury and throughout the land is an awakening of a craving for You. You are the gift we long to receive. You are giving us a taste of Your presence -- not to become satisfied with an experience of the moment, but to hunger and thirst for even more. Your Spirit is moving in our hearts to keep on asking, to keep on seeking, to keep on knocking. We want more than a flash in the pan of the gold of Your glory, we want the fullness of the presence of Christ conforming us to Your nature and transforming us to our destiny. Holy Spirit, keep releasing a craving for the presence of God in my soul. Give me the persistence to persevere in prayer, taking hold of You and never letting You go. Let the taste of Your presence only make me hungry for more. By Your grace, I will keep on asking and keep on receiving; I will keep on searching and keep on finding; I will keep on knocking and keep on opening. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
