"Abide in the Teaching of Christ" 3-15-08

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Good morning, Heavenly Father. Good morning, Holy Spirit. Good morning, God in Three Persons, Blessed Trinity. ... "Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God; whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son" (2 John 9). Lord, what is "the teaching of Christ?" It seems I hear You say, "The teaching of Christ is to live in the love of Christ -- to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Every teaching of truth is first founded upon this teaching of truth." Yes, Lord. Help me live in the love of Christ. "You are right in asking Me to help you live in the love of Christ. For you neither truly live nor truly love apart from Me. But you are not apart from Me. My Spirit lives within you and within all who are called by My name, having welcomed My Spirit into their hearts." Yes, Lord. By the grace You've given me to desire You and welcome You and love You, I welcome Your Spirit into my heart, to continually abide in me so can abide in You and Your teaching and Your will. "By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us His Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent His Son as the Savior of the world. God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them" (1 John 4:13-16). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today!
