Morning by Morning, August 19 - Angel Armies Sent to Afghanistan
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look up to You and speak out Your name as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...
With all the world my eyes and heart have been upon Afghanistan. As we read and see that fears are fervent among those who are trapped there, our prayers must be more fervent still. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16 NKJV). It’s not our righteousness but Yours that moves the heart of God to move in power to avail Your purposes and fulfill Your promises on earth as it in heaven.
Your call to prayer is Your invitation to actively participate and not sit idly by. When we answer Your call, You move in our hearts by Your Spirit to pray the Word and the will of God.
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).
A dear friend of mine and mighty prayer warrior of God sent me a Scripture yesterday You had put on her heart to pray for my son and all who find themselves in the midst of all that’s going on in that land. It’s a Word that reminds us that You move in angel armies that we don’t see and move in ways that our spiritual enemies can’t control. For our true battle is a spiritual battle and our true enemies are not human armies or terrorists but the spiritual forces of darkness operating through them, seeking to gain spiritual territory over a land and its people (Ephesians 6:12). It’s a Word of encouragement given to King Hezekiah during a surge upon the land of Israel:
“‘Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, shoot an arrow there, come before it with a shield, or cast up a siege ramp against it. By the way that he came, by the same he shall return; he shall not come into this city, says the Lord. For I will defend this city to save it, for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.’ That very night the angel of the Lord set out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians; when morning dawned, they were all dead bodies” (2 Kings 19:32-35).
Thank You for Your angel armies sent out as we pray and proclaim Your Word. They are “ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14). “Bless the Lord, O you His angels, you mighty ones who do His word, obeying the voice of His word!” (Psalm 103:20).
Father, send Your word, send Your Spirit, send Your mighty angels to protect and defend, to make a way where there seems to be no way. Strike down and slay the spiritual armies of darkness and terror to save the people and their souls in that land with each of those sent to help them. We entrust them all into Your hands and under Your angels’ wings (Psalm 91). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
