Morning by Morning, August 4 - Spirit of Burning Fire in Us
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I turn my eyes upon You, seeking Your face and listening for Your voice, as I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ...
“The Light of Israel will become a Fire, and His Holy One a Flame; and it will burn and devour His thorns and briers in one day” (Isaiah 10:17).
So many are sensing this is a time of sudden breakthroughs, sudden miracles, sudden manifestations of the fulfillment of God-given dreams and God-spoken prophecies where we had wavered in doubt and disappointment. I have that sense too. And I’m seeing more fruit, more evidence of breakthrough manifestations even as the spiritual battles intensify.
And at the same time, I also sense this is a time of Your All-Consuming, Holy Fire suddenly burning up all the “thorns and briers” of our flesh, our resistance, our rebellion, our idolatries, our unfaithfulness, and our unfruitfulness “in one day.” “For indeed our God is a Consuming Fire” (Hebrews 12:29).
In these days of great harvest, in the very midst of great darkness, You will have a people who have been cleansed by Your Blood, purified in Your Fire, and set ablaze with the Flame of Your Spirit. They will be secure in their true identity as sons and daughters of the Living God and fulfilling their God-given destiny as a kingdom of priests and kings, ruling and reigning with authority in Christ because Christ the King abides in them.
As Your Word prophesied long ago through the prophet Isaiah in Chapter 4, the glory of Your Presence will be our refuge and shelter in the storms and in the darkness of the days we’ll face. And the glory of Your Presence will be “beautiful and glorious” in the hearts of those You have purified and cleansed by Your “Spirit of Burning”:
“On that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel. Whoever is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem, once the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning. Then the Lord will create over the whole site of Mount Zion and over its places of assembly a cloud by day and smoke and the shining of a flaming fire by night. Indeed over all the glory there will be a canopy. It will serve as a pavilion, a shade by day from the heat, and a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain” (Isaiah 4:2-6).
In Christ, we are the site of Your glory, the temple of Your Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). All the Promises of God are Yes and Amen, fulfilled in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Come burn in me, Consuming Fire of God. Come burn out of me the briars and thorns of everything in me that’s not yet like You. Come suddenly with Your “Spirit of Burning” just as suddenly as You’re coming in Your power and glory with breakthroughs and miracles in our world. By the power of Your grace, give me a passion to desire to be a part of Your remnant branch and faithful Bride in the Body of Christ You’ve made to be beautiful and glorious for Your coming and for this great “harvest” at “the end of the age” (Matthew 13:39).
“Give unto the Lord the glory due His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 29:2).
Come, Holy Spirit. You are the Beauty of Holiness, the Spirit of Burning Fire, burning like a Flame and Consuming Fire in us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
