“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
And He will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4:5-6).
Just like You sent Your Holy Spirit in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way of the Lord before Your first coming, so You’re send Your Holy Spirit in the spirit and power of Elijah before Your second coming (Luke 1:17). You’re “preparing the way of the Lord” in our hearts and in the earth. You’re turning hearts and healing hearts. You’re setting hearts free.
Your heart is not to curse but to bless. Your heart is to restore and not destroy.
You are a Good Father who desires the best in Your children and loves to give the best to Your children (Matthew 7:11). You convict us of our sins to turn us to You in repentance and restoration. You heal us of our wounds so we can love You with all our hearts and love one another as ourselves (John 13:34-25). You set us free from all that would hold us back from being all You created us to be -- free to be like Jesus in our world, with Your character in our hearts and Your authority in our words (1 John 4:17; Romans 8:29; John 20:21).
Father, set us free from every curse of everything less than all Your desire for us. Pour out Your blessing of Your Presence and Your favor as Your sons and Your daughters in our world. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs -- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:16-17). That is who we are; that is who You have created us to be.
So at the coming of the Lord -- “the great and dreadful day of the Lord” -- it will be a great day for all who have given their hearts to You, who are restored to You as the children of God to our Father God! And You’re pouring out Your Spirit to turn every heart to You, not willing that any would be left out or left behind (2 Peter 3:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
