Morning by Morning, October 8, 2024 - “Seek the Lord while He May Be Found” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Looking to You, I watch and wait for the leading of Your Holy Spirit, here in the embrace of my Father. ... “Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7). As I read Your Word, the words of an old hymn we used to sing with the men most every Sunday night when I was leading a prison ministry come to mind: “Pass me not, O gentle Savior. Hear my humble cry. While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.” Do not pass me by, my Savior. I want to “Seek (You) while (You) may be found.” I want to “Call upon (You) while (You) are near.” I want to “return to (You) with all my heart.” I’m not talking about my salvation. I’m talking about my full surrender, my deeper intimacy, my closer connection. It’s true You’re always with me (Matthew 28:20). It’s true Your Spirit abides within me (1 Corinthians 3:16). But at the same time, there’s always room to come closer, to go deeper, to trust more fully, to surrender more completely, to embrace You and allow You to embrace me more tightly. That’s part of what these Scriptures invite us to do: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). “Abide in Me, and I in you” (John 15:4). “You will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:12-14). “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!” (Psalm 105:4) You’re ready to be found for all who would seek. You’re ready to be embraced by all who would pursue and press in and take hold of this unfathomable gift of God we have to be as close to You as we could possibly be -- as best as we can all by Your grace. So I’m seeking You while You may be found and calling upon You while You are near. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
