Morning by Morning, October 23, 2024 - Pouring Out the Living Water on the Last Day of the Feast of Tabernacles Good morning, Lord Jesus. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God, I look and listen for Your leading, as I seek to begin my day focused first on You. ... “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:37-38). You spoke these words on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles. And on the rhythm of the cycles of the Biblical Calander declaring the appointed times of the Lord, that is today. Today until sundown is the “the last day, that great day of the feast” (Leviticus 23:33-43). Like all the other feasts and sacrifices, all the Law and the Prophets, these were a type and shadow of ultimate fulfillment in You and Your Kingdom, Lord Jesus (John 5:39, 46; Luke 24:27; Matthew 5:17-18; Romans 10:4; Hebrews 10:1-7). “For all God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ ascends to God for His glory!” (2 Corinthians 1:20) The Feast of Tabernacles speaks of the Presence of God who is among us, who comes to “tabernacle” among us as Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23). And the last day of the festival had it climax, when the priest would take a golden vessel filled with water from the Pool of Siloam in the City of David, taken up to the temple through the Water Gate, to be poured out as a sign of the prayers for rain at the sound of the shofars. But on that last day described in the Gospel of John, that’s when You stood up to declare You were the true Living Water and to declare it is Your Holy Spirit that will flow out of the hearts of all who believe in You. In the fulfillment of this feast in who You are, our bodies are now Your temples of the Holy Spirit who flows out of us to bring Your life to all You would touch through our lives (1 Corinthians 3:16; John 7:38). Your Holy Spirit, who “tabernacles” within us, empowers us to be Your witnesses in our world (Acts 1:8). Come, Holy Spirit! Come fill me up afresh today (Ephesians 5:18). And flow like a River out of my heart, as You empower me to be a witness of Jesus in my world! Thank You, Lord Jesus, You are the Living Water! (John 4:14) Let Your heart and Your words of Spirit and Life flow through me today--on this last day of the feast and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
