Morning by Morning, October 21 - Bow Before the One Who is Named Above Every Name
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is “the name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9 NKJV). So I begin my day declaring Your name above everything I’ll encounter and every challenge I’ll face. For at Your name, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow” and “every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (v. 10-11). ...
You fulfilled the words of the Prophet Isaiah, written nearly eight hundred years before You humbled Yourself to come into our world in the likeness of human flesh and blood to reveal to us the Father heart of God through Your life and death and resurrection for us:
“Who has declared this from ancient time?
Who has told it from that time?
Have not I, the Lord?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.
‘Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.
He shall say,
‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength.
To Him men shall come,
And all shall be ashamed
Who are incensed against Him.
In the Lord all the descendants of Israel
Shall be justified, and shall glory’” (Isaiah 45:21-25).
You are “the Radiance of the Glory of God and the Exact Imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of (Your) power” (Hebrews 1:3).
One day all will bow before You and give an account of our lives to You:
“For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written:
‘As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.’
So then each of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:10-12).
So I want to be accountable to You today. And I want my life to count for You today. Today, I willingly bow before You to faithfully declare You are Lord to the glory of my Father. “For us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist” (1 Corinthians 8:6).
Come rule and reign in my heart and in my world. As the Word of God speaks of the authority and power of Your name, “But of the Son He says, ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom” (Hebrews 1:8).
“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:20). Help me keep growing and keep knowing You more. Help me grow in “the knowledge of the Son of God ... (and) grow up in all things into Him who is the Head -- (into) Christ” (Ephesians 4:13-15).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:1-3).
“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” (Psalm 95:6) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
