Morning by Morning, March 14 - “His Divine Power” to Set Us Free to Be Like Jesus Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up, here in my heart and every moment of my day (John 12:32). ... “His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Thus He has given us, through these things, His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature. For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with goodness, and goodness with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness, and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love. For if these things are yours and are increasing among you, they keep you from being ineffective and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5). Lord, let my life not be “ineffective and unfruitful,” but filled with Your “divine power” grounded in “the knowledge of Him who called (me).” Pour into me all the power I need. Empower me to overcome the corruption and lusts of this world, with my eyes on You and with Your heart in me. “From faith to faith” (Romans 1:17), and with “grace upon grace” (John 1:16), keep building up my faith in You with goodness, knowledge, self-control, mutual affection, and love. “From glory to glory,” keep making me more like You each day, “by the Spirit of the Lord” at work within me (2 Corinthians 3:18). Let my life be consumed in You and let Your life be expressed through me. All I need for “life and godliness” is to keep abiding in You and keep letting You abide in me (John 15:4). Just as You said long ago, You continue to speak every day: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abide in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.... If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (John 15:5-8). Lord, let that be my heart and life this day and every day. Keep drawing me close and filling me up and setting me free -- Free to Be Like Jesus -- more and more every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
