Morning by Morning, September 22 - “Start a Fire on the Earth!”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re my Savior and my Shepherd, the High and Exalted One and my Example. So I look to You and seek to hear Your voice in my heart, as I step out onto the journey of my day (John 10:3). ...
I’m at a three-day conference south of Nashville with pastors and leaders and hungry hearts pursuing more of You called New Room. It’s named after the gathering place for hungry hearts in the days of the great awakening that burned across England led by John Wesley. I’ve been there, with old friends David Thomas and J.D. Walt, who are leading this conference hosted by Seedbed ministry. It’s exciting to be with them again, as You’re fanning the flames of awakening again in hungry hearts--desperate for a mighty move of God in our land and throughout the earth and beginning in our own hearts.
Come, Holy Spirit! Come, Holy Fire! Come fall on us; come burn in us!
David kicked off the conference with Your Words from The Message:
“I’ve come to start a fire on this earth--how I wish it were blazing right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything right-side up!” (from Luke 12:49-53 The Message)
You’re the Fire and we’re the wood. “For our God is a Consuming Fire!” (Hebrews 12:29).
And I offer to You “the wood” of all that needs to be burned up and consumed in my life, that I can be ablaze with the Fire of Your Life burning in me. Burn up “the wood” of all that would hold me back from being all You created me to be, all that would be a distraction, a hesitation, any kind of a limitation from my life being wholly surrendered and submitted to You.
Lord, You can “change everything” in a moment. Let that moment be now! You can “turn everything right-side up” in the flicker of a Flame. Strike that Match and set it to the wood of my soul now! Set me ablaze with a passion for You, in fiery hot pursuit of all You would do in me and through my life! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
