Morning by Morning, September 30 - Living Life Worthy of Christ, as Christ Lives His Life in Us Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am to worship You and serve You and live my life for You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever does not take up the cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 10:37). Your calling to complete surrender is much higher than casual faith can even imagine. Your invitation to an intimate relationship of love is much deeper than shallow commitment can ever embrace. To love You more than father or mother, son or daughter, is not to love them less, but to love You more -- more than these, more than anything, more than anyone. To take up the cross and follow You is not to live our lives unaware of the world and needs and challenges around us, but to see that world through Your eyes and meet those challenges with Your power in Your love. To lose our life for Your sake is not to merely survive and get by with just enough level of commitment of heart to get saved and get to Heaven when we die, but to live our lives as though they are no longer our own -- fully alive in Christ and Christ fully alive in us. Your Word says it this way through the wholly surrendered and completely committed heart of Apostle Paul: “So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:1-4). This depth of surrender, calling, commitment, and love looks different for every one of us. And none of us can even desire this, much less do this, in our own goodness or power, because apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). So You give us both the desire and the power by Your abiding Spirit within us to live our lives in You, as we allow You to live Your life in us (Philippians 2:13). Here's Your invitation I believe I hear in my heart from Your Spirit, according to Your Word, speaking to me and to every one of us who would choose to fully follow You: “Come. Take up the cross. And follow Me. Die to yourself today, so you can live in Me every day. Live in Me, that I may live in you. I have supplied all you need. And all you need is to say Yes to Me with all your heart.” Yes, Lord. Let it be so. All by Your grace, all in Your way. “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). “It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
