Morning by Morning, June 27 - The Gate of Death is Closed, as the Covenant of Death is Annulled
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up, here in my heart and every moment of my day (John 12:32). ...
“On that day the Lord of hosts will be a garland of glory
and a diadem of beauty to the remnant of His people
and a Spirit of Justice to the one who sits in judgment
and Strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate”
(Isaiah 28:5-6).
On Friday morning, June 24, 2022, a great battle was turned back at the gate in our nation. The Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade was overturned and the curse of death upon our land was cancelled. Abortion is no longer the law of the land. Our “covenant with death” has been “annulled” and our “agreement with Sheol will not stand” (Isaiah 28:18).
Once again, as before that decision for death made in 1973 by the highest court in our land, the people of each state will now be empowered to choose according to our conscience and spiritual convictions life or death, blessing or curse. Once again, we are free honor life and renounce death, to honor God and renounce Molech, to honor mothers and the lives they’ve been entrusted by You to carry in the sanctuary of their wombs from conception to birth and renounce the god of convenience over Godly conscience.
“‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’
‘Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?’
“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”
(1 Corinthians 15:54-57) “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; (but You) have come that (we) may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
We celebrate and rejoice in this victory for life from this “battle at the gate!” And, at the same time, we seek Your preparation and empowerment, Your wisdom and guidance, for the battles ahead. We embrace Your compassion for those struggling in their choices. And we receive Your grace to come alongside those making right choices for life even in the face of their own battles and circumstances.
In many ways, the rage of reversing Roe has just begun; but that’s just as we would expect:
“Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us’” (Psalm 2:1-3).
But the gate of abortion, the gate of death, the gate of idolatry of the flesh over the Spirit, the gate of demonic worship through the blood sacrifice of innocent children being formed by God in their mother’s wombs, like all the other “gates of hell,” “shall not prevail” against Your people who are called by Your name, who are praying the prayers of Your heart by Your Spirit in the battles for the soul of our nation and the earth (Matthew 16:18 KJV).
By the power of Your grace, You are shutting the “gates of hell” and opening up the gates of heaven. And we are expectant for breakthroughs of revival, for awakening of sleeping souls, for change in our culture, for transformation of our land. Some have said we would reap the whirlwind by decisions like this, made from the place of governmental authority in our land. Even so, at the same time, Lord, let there be a fresh Wind of Your Spirit released in a revival as never before since the one released on the Day of Pentecost! Let there come “a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind” that Your people across this land and around this world be “filled with the Holy Spirit!” (Acts 2:1-4)
Yes, Lord! Let the gates of hell be closed and the gates of heaven open wide!
“Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory!” (Psalm 24:7-10)
