Morning by Morning, June 28 - Listening to God’s Voice to Be Led by God’s Spirit Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my heart and open up my spirit to hear Your words of spirit and life and truth to begin my morning in communion with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God (John 6:63). ... “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:12-15). Lord, You know what I can bear and what I can’t, what I’m ready to hear and what I’m not. You see the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end and everything in between (Isaiah 46:10). And from beginning to end, You know everything I’ll go through, everything I’ll encounter, and everything I’ll overcome, as You guide my steps and lead my heart to make me more like You all along the way (Romans 8:29). So You know just what I need to hear, just what I need to know, for You to accomplish what You desire to do and to form in me each day -- step by step, day by day, morning by morning, on my journey with You. This is all part of Your plan, part of Your ways, part of what You meant when You said these eternal words of guidance and comfort, in spirit and truth: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are One” (John 16:27-30). Now as I rise and go about my day, may I hear Your voice and follow the leading of Your Spirit in fulfillment of the Promise of Your Word, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21). “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). By the mercy and grace of God, I’m Your follower and disciple, I’m a sheep of Your fold and I’m a son of God led by the Spirit of God. It’s all so much more than I could ever deserve, but all so much of Your plan to use every moment of my life to conform me and every one of Your children into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29; 2 Peter 1:4). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
